Liqum’s vision

The vision was born in 1992, when Liqum's founder, a young automation engineer, sat in an airplane looking over Greenland. He saw the beautiful blue ocean, white ice sheets and blue sky and thought how he could help start protecting our most vital asset – water. He decided that one day he would develop a real-time worldwide water monitoring network. The company, which he founded, became a commercial and industrial success, but he never lost sight of his original vision.

With the help of a group of leading chemists, engineers and top scientists in Finland and around the world, and with the emphasis on the use of electro-chemistry, Liqum developed a unique liquid measurement technology called "Chena". The first commercial Chena system was sold two years later to the high-tech Finnish papermaking industry. Since then, Chena has proven to be extremely valuable in improving production efficiencies in the pulp and paper industry across Europe and America.

Today, Chena water monitoring technology serves other industries too, including Beverage, Food, Mining, Water Treatment, Environment and Security.

For over a decade Liqum has delivered unique Chena technology to our valued clientele around the world. The vision of a worldwide real-time water-monitoring network is slowly but surely become a reality.
