Management
Liqum’s management team is made up of experienced individuals possessing
expertise in a wide variety of fields. This team works together with Liqum’s
worldwide advisory network.
Sakari Laitinen
The founder and president of Liqum, Inc., Sakari has worked in the measurement
and monitoring field for 20 years. He received a Bachelor of Science in automation
engineering at Jyväskylä Institute of Technology.
He developed measurement and monitoring systems in Europe and in North America
from 1988 to 1993, after which he spent three years specializing in military
monitoring and working with chemical war gas applications. Between 1996-1999
Sakari was responsible for automation on a paper machine at a large paper mill
in Finland.
In 1999, driven by his long-held dream of
developing a worldwide water-monitoring network, he founded Liqum. Since then,
he has been leading Liqum’s business
operations, steering research and development and opening up new application
areas. Sakari has five patent families to his name.
Eerik Leikas
Attorney at Law and a Senior Partner in his law firm, Eerik is a member of
Liqum’s board and has been developing Liqum’s business model with
Sakari Laitinen since 1992. Eerik concentrates on the areas of company law
and contract law and he has strong expertise in international commercial law
and financial law. Eerik has also worked with international information technology
companies and he is a member of many boards of directors.
Seppo Heimala
Dr. Tech. Seppo Heimala has over 38 years work experience in electro-chemistry
and developing various types of industrial processes.
He has created over 30 patents in metallurgy and mineral processing and has
carried out application development with practically all elementary substances.
Seppo has taken part in numerous research projects in metallurgy and chemistry,
especially in minerals processing. These research projects have dealt, for
example, with superconductors, intrauterine devices, dental corrosion and metal
production – starting from ore treatment to finished production. Seppo
has been a Member of Editorial Board in the International Journal of Mineral
Processing.
