Lahti Aqua Ensures Trouble-Free Operations with Real-Time Industrial Wastewater Monitoring

real-time monitoring of industrial wastewater

At Lahti Aqua, the monitoring of industrial wastewater focuses on the detection of substances that do not belong in the sewer, such as oils and other harmful chemicals. Early detection enables immediate corrective measures, which secures the trouble-free operation of the network system and treatment plants.

Real-time monitoring of wastewater quality improves the efficiency of treatment processes and reduces chemical and energy consumption, which reduces carbon dioxide emissions and environmental burden.

Continuous quality monitoring helps detect anomalies promptly and enables compliance with industrial wastewater permits. Manual sampling can be timed exactly when the concentrations of harmful substances are at their highest to prevent possible disturbances and damage before they occur.

“Together with LAB University of Applied Sciences, we have sought a solution to proactively identify compounds harmful to the operation of the wastewater treatment plant. Understanding the variations in wastewater quality is preventive risk management,” says Hannu Mustonen, CEO of Aqua Palvelu Oy.

Early Warning – minimizes both the load on the treatment plant and environmental damage

LIQUM offers real-time water quality monitoring and Early Warning alerts. LIQUM 6th Sense confirms the water- or effluent quality up to 1440 times a day, which enables immediate detection of unusual chemical loads, for example as a result of discharges from industrial plants.

“Early Warning alarms enable network and plant personnel to react proactively, so that problems do not have time to escalate into process disruptions or environmental damage,” says Richard Booth, General Manager of LIQUM.

"During the research for my thesis, LIQUM 6th Sense monitoring service was found to be a user-friendly system that was easy to install and use. The system successfully identified deviations in wastewater quality and provided immediate early warnings when unusual concentrations were detected. This enables a quick reaction to, for example, industrial overflows and illegal discharges," confirms Reh Oo, recently graduated environmental technology engineer from LAB University of Applied Sciences.
