The vision behind LIQUM was born in 1992, when sitting in a plane high above Greenland, Finnish automation engineer Sakari Laitinen looked down and was struck by the breathtaking contrast of the deep blue sky, pristine white ice sheets, and the endless ocean below. In that moment, he was overwhelmed by the realization of how recklessly humanity was endangering its most precious resource - water.
He made a decision then and there: to dedicate his life to protecting water by building a global real-time water monitoring network.
Liqum Ltd. was founded in 1999 to turn that vision into reality. Collaborating with leading chemists, engineers, and scientists from Finland and elsewhere - and leveraging advanced electrochemical technology - LIQUM developed its unique liquid monitoring system. Just one year later, the first comme rcial installation was delivered to Finland´s high-tech paper industry.
Since then, LIQUM’s technology has played a vital role in ensuring water and liquid quality across a wide range of industries, including water treatment, beverage production, environmental monitoring, pharmaceuticals, aquaculture, bioenergy, pulp & paper, and mining & minerals. For more than two decades, LIQUM has been delivering real-time water and liquid quality monitoring solutions to customers around the world. What began as a bold vision at 30,000 feet is now a global reality here on the ground - a network of monitoring systems protecting water, our planet´s most essential resource.
LIQUM transforms water data into impact for industry, people, and the planet.
